Worked hours describe time actually spent working, while paid hours describe time compensated under a workplace's rules. They can differ because of paid breaks, unpaid meal periods, training, travel, leave, on-call arrangements, or rounding policies. A useful time record shows the bridge between the two values instead of treating them as synonyms.

1. Calculate attendance time: Find the elapsed span between clock-in and clock-out for each shift.

An employee is present for 8 hours 30 minutes, takes a 30-minute unpaid lunch and two paid 10-minute rests. Worked time may be 8 hours, while paid time can still be 8 hours 20 minutes if paid rest periods are compensated. The exact treatment depends on the applicable rules.
